Purdue University partners with Andretti Technologies

Andretti Technologies (ATEC), the advanced engineering arm of the Michael Andretti-led motorsports group, has partnered with Purdue University to engineer the future of electric vehicle technology and innovation.

"We here at Andretti Technologies are very excited to be partnered with such a prestigious and respected University, leaders in the field of electrical machines and power electronics," said Roger Griffiths, director of motorsport development for Andretti Technologies. "The knowledge and resources offered to us has already been extremely fruitful in the development of the new ATEC Formula E powertrain that will debut in Season 3 of the FIA Formula E Championship."

The partnership focuses on using advanced technology to develop the next generation of high performance electric vehicles though access to the University's state of the art engineering facilities along with the latest electrical understanding that Purdue can offer. It also incorporates an educational internship program for Purdue University students within Andretti Technologies and the Andretti family of race teams.

"We at Purdue couldn't be more pleased about this partnership between a high-tech leader in motorsports and our high-tech university," said Steve Abel, Purdue's associate vice president for engagement. "The Andretti organization has a storied history in motorsports that will provide a framework for opportunities in the areas of research and development as well as internships that will benefit students and faculty at Purdue, along with our colleagues within Andretti Technologies. Specific collaborations are under way with the College of Engineering and Krannert School of Management."

With a primary focus on developing the new powertrain and electric vehicle technology in and around the FIA Formula E realm, Andretti Technologies leads various advanced engineering projects for the family of Andretti race teams while striving to meet the future transportation needs of an ever-evolving world both within and outside of motorsport.

Lead Andretti Technologies partner TE Connectivity will host an information session Monday, Nov. 9 in Stewart Center Room 278 located at 128 Memorial Mall in West Lafayette, Ind.
