HSR sets 2016 historic racing schedule

Historic Sports Car Racing, Ltd. (HSR) announced it is adding to its roster of tracks for 2016, with Virginia International Raceway and Circuit Mont Tremblant joining Road Atlanta, Grand Prize of America road course Savannah, Daytona International Speedway and Sebring International Raceway on the calendar.

The season kicks of in Florida March 16-20 with historic drivers and crew getting the chance to be a part of one of the greatest weekends in racing, the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring. Road Atlanta follows with the 39th running of the Mitty April 21-24 featuring Ford & Can Am..

HSR will then travel to Virginia International Raceway May 26-29.

Heading into Canada, Can Am returns with a feature race at the joint HMSA/HSR event. Sommet des Legendes, Mont Tremblant Circuit near Montreal, July 7-10.

The Atlanta Historics at Road Atlanta allow drivers and cars alike a chance to challenge themselves at this popular track nestled in the rolling north Georgia hills Sept. 15-18. The Savannah Speed Classic follows on Oct. 27-30.

The high banks and the Daytona Historics Nov. 10-13 provide drivers with a challenge unique in historic racing. The season concludes with the traditional HSR finale & Awards Banquet at Sebring International Raceway, Dec. 1-4.

"I am thrilled with the 2016 HSR calendar, it is an international schedule in every way with multiple nations represented via competitors and tracks," said HSR President David Hinton. "The addition of Virginia International Raceway and Le Circuit Mont Tremblant only add to our roster of classic racetracks such as Road Atlanta, Daytona and Sebring.

"HSR is moving forward by doing what we do best, organizing races. We have chosen quality over quantity and because of this HSR races are known for good, safe and competitive racing. Many events of 2015 were over-subscribed with growing wait lists, which underlines the success of HSR and our philosophy when it comes to historic racing."
