FIA Sport Regional Congress of the North European countries

The first edition of that Congress organised in association with North European Zone (NEZ) concluded today in Helsinki. Held on 17 & 18 October, the event is one of the two FIA Sport Regional Congresses focusing on Europe
Hosting by AKK-Motorsport (Finland), 41 delegates from 18 countries met to discuss the latest key issues in motor sport in Europe.
High level discussions and practical workshops dealt with Rally Safety, Motor Sport Elite pathway and Environmental and Sustainability issues.
A broad range of concerns were addressed and a list of recommendations and best practices were identified.
With regard to the key question of safety, delegates have been asked by FIA President Jean Todt, who was in attendance, to identify experts who could join a Task Force on Rally Safety which be created to provide back-up and support to motor sport events around the world.
Jean Todt emphasized during the opening session that: “European ASNs play a key role in thedevelopment of motor sport at the global level, thus it is important that they are given the chance to share best practices”.
FIA President Jean Todt together with FIA Deputy-President for Sport Graham Stoker and ASN Development Task Force President Andrew Papadopoulos recalled the importance of gathering together ASNs and working on the future development of motor sport to identify best practices.
The next FIA Sport Regional Congress will be held in Zagreb on 12 & 13 December 2015 with 21 invited members of the Central European Zone and other neighbours countries.
