Automodello releases Jim Clark Lotus 49 and Ford Twin Cam models-77939

High-end model maker Automodello has recently released two stunning, resin-cast models – a 1967 Lotus 49 as driven by Jim Clark and the Ford 3.0-liter V8 Twin-Cam that powered it, during its maiden outing in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Clark won the race, the first of four he would win that season including the British, U.S. and Mexican Grands Prix in the Lotus 49.

The team at Automodello invested close to four years worth of development on both models to ensure the ultimate in detail and accuracy.

"One key issue during development (of the model), which would not be true of the current era of F1 with its very strict rules, is that during the 1960s, Colin Chapman tried everything to improve the car. That meant that cars could change dramatically from Friday to Sunday to post-race," explains James Cowen, CEO of Diecasm, LLC, Automodello's parent company. "Many of the period photographs were not dated, so we had to sort through technical changes to come up with the correct version of Jim Clark's car. This was both a challenging as well as rewarding process. There were instances when modifications were made to the model, only to be changed again or changed back as research revealed more."

Both models, in 1/12 scale, will be limited to a production run of 499 examples that include a display case. The Lotus 49 is available for $899.95 and the Ford Twin-Cam is $149.95. To purchase, visit
