MOTOGP: More tests for "stable" de Angelis

MotoGP rider Alex de Angelis remains in a stable condition in a Japanese hospital, and will undergo further tests on his lungs on Thursday.

Now alert and conscious, the Italian rider's father and brother joined him in the intensive care unit at Dokkyo University Hospital overnight. Of the injuries de Angelis sustained at Motegi on Saturday, both the "pulmonary edema and the intracranial [edema] are under close observation" by doctors, a statement from his Ioda team said.

Specific tests on the "metabolic exchanges" of de Angelis's lungs will be carried out on Thursday, with a new MRI also scheduled for the coming days to monitor swelling in his brain.
