GP2: Hilmer to miss Russian round

The Hilmer Motorsport GP2 team will skip this weekend's event on the Russian Grand Prix bill at Sochi.

The team has struggled to find a stable lineup all season, having missed the opening event in Bahrain and run only one car in the last two rounds at Spa and Monza. In between, Johnny Cecotto Jr., Nick Yelloly, Simon Trummer, Jon Lancaster and Sergio Canamasas have all made appearances in its entries.

Trummer represented Hilmer solo at Monza last month, but he is on World Endurance Championship duty with ByKolles at Fuji this weekend.

A Hilmer statement said: "Unfortunately, our team will not be in Sochi this weekend, but we will keep on fighting to be back in Bahrain [for the penultimate round]."

Other GP2 entry changes this weekend include returns for Nicholas Latifi and Nathanael Berthon with MP and Lazarus respectively, while Dean Stoneman makes his series debut with Carlin.

Cecotto had intimated that he was retiring from motorsport last month, but appears on the Sochi entry list with Trident as before.
