Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Car: Braking

There are many upgrades and features to the braking system for the 2016 Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car.

In the all-new 2016 Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car, enhancing the braking package has been a key focal point for the Mazda Motorsports team and our development and build partner for the race car, Long Road Racing (LRR). The 2016 MX-5 Cup car will be equipped with the factory upgraded Brembo package. This package includes a four-piston front caliper with larger brake discs, which allows for shorter stopping distance and higher heat tolerances.

The ABS programming has also been improved over the current model, giving the driver better brake pedal feel and consistency at threshold braking. This considerably helps driver confidence as consistency is one of the key elements to a fine-tuned brake package.
