
IMSA: Risi Ferrari, Park Place Porsche lead FP2 at VIR
A quick day with two one-hour practice sessions for IMSA's TUDOR United SportsCar Championship GT classes at Virginia International Raceway came to an end with a familiar car and driver atop the 18-car field.
Risi Competizione's Pierre Kaffer was once again fastest overall and fastest in GTLM with his No. 62 Ferrari F458, and lowered his best from FP1 (1:43.937) by a considerable margin (1:43.138 ). The sister Porsche North America entries of Patrick Pilet in No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR (1:43.210 ) and Earl Bamber in No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR (1:43.302) completed the top-3.
In GT Daytona, Virginia native Spencer Pumpelly (pictured) placed the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America at the sharp end of the GTD competition (1:48.128). Turner Motorsport's Markus Palttala placed the No. 97 BMW Z4 in second (1:48.401) and Andy Lally in the No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche 911 GT America (1:48.759) repeated as P2 and P3 for the second consecutive session.
The third TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice begins Saturday at 9:55 a.m. ET.
