Le Mans winner Bamber back in WEC
Le Mans 24 Hours winner Earl Bamber will rejoin the World Endurance Championship grid at the Nurburgring later this month aboard a GTE Am-class Porsche.
The New Zealander, who triumphed at Le Mans with Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy at the wheel of a Porsche 919 Hybrid, will race one of the Proton team's 911 RSRs at the 'Ring on Aug. 30. He will take the place of Austrian Klaus Bachler, who will be racing a Schutz team Porsche 911 GT3-R at the Sachsenring ADAC GT Masters event on the same day, alongside team boss Christian Ried and Khaled Al Qubaisi.
Porsche factory driver Bamber, whose primary programme with the German manufacturer in 2015 is in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, joins Tandy on the entry for round five of the WEC at the 'Ring.
The Briton is scheduled to contest the remainder of the WEC at the wheel of the KCMG ORECA-Nissan 05 he raced in the series opener at Silverstone in April.
