Negri Leads Charge in Dry Final Practice At Road America
After having both Friday practice sessions held in rainy conditions, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship teams took advantage of cool but dry weather to post the fastest times of the weekend at Road America in preparation for Sunday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.
Ozz Negri led the charge in the final one-hour session with a lap of 1:56.847 to lead the Prototype (P) class in the No. 60 U.S. AutoForce Ligier JS P2/Honda co-driven by John Pew. He was followed by Joao Barbosa, 1:57.591 in the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP, and Scott Pruett, 1:57.777 in the No. 01 Ford EcoBoost/Riley.Patrick Pilet unofficially eclipsed the existing GT Le Mans (GTLM) class track record with a lap of 2:02.642 in the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR, followed by teammate Earl Bamber, 2:03.514 in the No. 912 entry. Third was BMW Team RLL’s Bill Auberlen, 2:03.924 in the No. 25 IHG Rewards Club BMW Z4 GTLM.Colin Braun was fastest in Prototype Challenge (PC) mark, running 1:59.908 in the No. 54 CORE autosport Flex-Box/Composite Resources ORECA FLM09. Andy Lally led the GT Daytona (GTD) class with a lap of 2:09.241 in the No. 44 Flex-Box/The Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank Porsche 911 GT America.The official track records will be on the line in today’s TUDOR Championship beginning at 4:35 p.m. ET. Qualifying will be streamed live on IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app.
