KOCH TOPS PRACTICE ON OPENING DAY AT ROAD AMERICA
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 7, 2015) – Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda Lites 1 championship leader Kenton Koch paced the field through two practice sessions Friday at Road America.
Koch, from Glendora, California, posted his quickest time of 2 minutes, 5.131 seconds during the first session in the No. 60 JDC Motorsports entry.
All five of the top times were posted in the morning session. The first session stayed dry for the field before rain moved in for the second and final practice of the day.
Qualifying starts at 8 a.m. (CT) Saturday, followed by Round 9 of the season, a 30-minute race, at 10:40 a.m.
Koch’s JDC teammate Clark Toppe, from The Woodlands, Texas, was second overall in practice Friday at 2:05.170, only .039 from the lead in the No. 10 entry. Michal Chlumecky, from Windsor, Ontario,, finished with the third-fastest time and top L1 Masters time at 2:05.465 in the No. 31 Eurosport Racing entry.
Wisconsin native Maxwell Hanratty, from Hartland, Wisconsin, was fourth at 2:05.757 in his series debut in the No. 29 Extreme Speed Motorsports entry. Lites 1 Masters championship leader John Falb, from Las Vegas, rounded out the top five at 2:05.944 in the No. 77 ONE Motorsports car.
Brian Alder, from Dublin, Ohio, led both sessions for Lites 2, with a top time of 2:08.696 in the No. 22 BAR1 Motorsports entry.
