Michael Marsal Racing Road America Pre-Race Report

Elkhart Lake, Wis. (5 August 2014) - Fresh off of a huge victory at Lime Rock Park in the previous round of IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship competition, Michael Marsal and Turner Motorsport head to Road America with hopes of another big weekend for the team in the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase. 

Marsal will once again partner with co-driver Markus Paltalla in the No. 97 Alvarez & Marsal / IHG Rewards Club BMW Z4 after pairing with Dane Cameron at Lime Rock. Paltalla’s Lime Rock Park absence was explained in the best way possible, as the 2014 BMW Trophy winner was also earning a huge trophy, winning the 24 Hours of Spa in a BMW Z4.  Road America marks Round 7 of the 2015 TUDOR Championship and is one of Marsal’s all-time favorite circuits. He had his first racecar driving experience at the track when he drove a Skip Barber car there and has enjoyed success at the challenging 4-mile road course. Marsal has two previous podiums at Road America in both the American Le Mans Series (2012) and in GRAND-AM Rolex Series competition with Turner Motorsport (2013). He and Turner Motorsport will look to pick up where it left off two weeks ago at Lime Rock. “I absolutely love coming back to Road America every year,” said Marsal. “It’s a fun track that has been good to me in the past. It’s one of my favorites. Lime Rock was almost unbelievable the way the Turner guys took a wrecked car and turned it into  a winning one. It was a huge home win and an awesome highlight. Now I just want to continue that momentum at Road America in the IHG Rewards car this weekend. The Turner team works so hard on this program and hopefully we can come home with another big finish!” Practice gets underway on Friday, August 7. A third practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s race. FOX Sports 1 will televise the 2 hour, 40 minute Continental Tire Road Race Showcase event LIVE on Sunday, August 9th at 3:00 PM ET.
