Kyle Gimple Racing Lime Rock Park Post-Race Report

Lakeville, Conn. (25 July 2015) – It was another solid outing for Kyle Gimple in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition at Lime Rock Park on Saturday in Northwest Connecticut. He and his Compass360 Racing team continued to make gains with the No. 75 AERO Advanced Paint Technology/Children’s Tumor Foundation Audi S3 which debuted earlier this year at Sebring International Raceway.

Gimple’s co-driver Paul Holton opened the race from 22nd on the grid before handing the car over to Gimple with about 45 minutes remaining in the 2-hour sprint race.Though progress was made on the electronics of the car, the race didn’t bring the pace the group was hoping for as a solid handle for the car eluded the team. But Gimple knows that every lap completed is another forward step on the way to victory with the innovative Audi S3 platform, and he fought to the finish after a race that featured 100 laps of green flag running with just two caution periods.Gimple was ultimately credited with a 17th place result. And though that end result isn’t what the team was hoping for, the progress made on the new car has Gimple and the team pleased with the improvement.“We just had a push with the car that was tough, and got progressively worse as the run went on,” said Gimple. “But as frustrating as that was, it is great that was our biggest issue. The Compass360 guys have been working constantly to get a handle on this car and we’ve fought some issues on the electronics side. So to have a run without any of those issues, that is actually some progress. You don’t want to have a car that isn’t handling well, but this was another step forward for us and hopefully we can keep making more at Road America.”Gimple will next travel to Road America for Round 7 of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge in two weeks’ time. The Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park will be televised on Sunday, August 2 at 12:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1.
