SVRA: Chevron celebrated at US Vintage GP at Watkins Glen
2015 marks 50 years since Derek Bennett began production of Chevron Racing Cars. The SVRA, US Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen is the site of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Sports cars and formula cars from across the country have gathered to mark the occasion with parties, awards and a Chevron feature race scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
“This is a very special event, Chevron is a popular, competitive, fast car,” said Ed Swart. “Many of the cars and drivers here this weekend were at the 40th anniversary celebration in Monterey in 2005. We really enjoy the cars and racing together.”
David Jacobs brought his 1971 Chevron B19 from Colorado to Watkins Glen. “A Chevron-only race at this track is really a treat. Although I had some doubt about running the Watkins Glen short course, I found it faster than the long track. Watkins Glen is the right track to celebrate this anniversary. I am really glad to be here.”
Chevron is one of the more popular sport racing cars competing in vintage racing.
