Poll results: Behind the growth in IndyCar TV ratings
Our first RACER.com reader poll question asked for opinions about the reason behind recent forward progress in TV ratings for the Verizon IndyCar Series. We thought it interesting that there was a fairly even split among two choices of explanations, and very little support for the others:
Q: What do you think is the primary factor behind the recent growth in TV ratings for the Verizon IndyCar Series?
- The audience is attracted to exciting, close wheel-to-wheel racing.
- Now that NASCAR is on NBCSN, more racing fans are viewing the network and discovering IndyCar.
- American fans like to see American drivers running at the front.
- The 2015 Aerokits, increased speeds and more perceived danger are the key factors.
- Oval racing is something American fans understand and can relate to.
