Two out of two for Marta Garcia

Marta Garcia, the 14-year-old Spaniard selected by the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission to receive a funded drive in the 2015 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, has triumphed again in her second race of the series in Genk. Pitted against a total of 48 other karters, Garcia was again amid the pace-setters during practice and qualifying but raced to the head of the field in the final to take her second victory of the season, also setting the best lap of the race on the way. As a consequence, the young Spaniard retains her position at the top of the Trophy standings with one round in France remaining (11-13 September).
Michèle Mouton, President of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, said: “It is a fantastic achievement that Marta has won the first two races in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, especially when you consider the number of youngsters competing in the series and all in identical equipment. With one round remaining, she is certainly looking good for the title and we wish her loads of success. We are very proud of Marta. ”
The FIA Women in Motorsport Commission is working in partnership with the CIK-FIA, helping to encourage young women into the sport at grass roots level.
