Spanish base for ADESS LMP3 program

German constructor ADESS is planning to build its new LMP3 coupe in Mallorca as part of a link-up with the second customer for the new car.

Assembly of the ADESS-Nissan LMP3 will move to the Circuit Mallorca near Palma at an undisclosed point in the future, as a result of a deal with the owners of the track, G-Private Racing Services, to buy two of the cars.

"The initial cars will be completed in Germany, but the plan is to assemble the cars at Circuit Mallorca and have an office there," ADESS boss Stephane Chosse said. "This means we will be able to undertake development and invite potential customers to try the car without having to organize special test days."

Chosse explained that expansion plans for the Spanish track would make it more suitable for a P3 prototype, with the circuit to be extended from 1.99 miles to approximately 2.8 miles by the end of next year.

G-Private, which formerly raced in ADAC GT Masters, has yet to firm up racing plans for its pair of LMP3s, but said that it was evaluating the European Le Mans Series, VdeV and the Italian Endurance Championship. Nurburgring 24 Hours regular Jurgen Alzen, Sebastian Stahl (step-brother of Michael Schumacher) and Sebastian Grunert have been contracted as drivers.

ADESS has yet to announce the identity of the first customer, whose order of two cars allowed the LMP3 project to be given the green light in June. Chosse would only say that the team is planning to race the car in the Asian Le Mans Series, which kicks off at the Fuji World Endurance Championship round in October.

"Our target is to be on track in early September and if we do the mileage that is planned then Fuji is possible, but the real target is to be ready for next season," he explained.
