Burton Racing Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Post-Qualifying Report

Bowmanville, Ont. (10 July 2015) – Burton Racing is eager to move forward at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Saturday after traffic hindered the team in Friday’s 15-minute IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge qualifying session. Despite showing a pace that would have put the No. 23 BMW Automotive Chemicals/Excelda/Gold Eagle BMW 128i among the top-five, Mike LaMarra settled for 14th on the grid after a slow car thwarted his fastest flying lap.

The end result didn’t reflect the overall potential of Burton Racing and its drivers Mike LaMarra and Terry Borcheller, who posted the eighth fastest time of the second practice session held Friday afternoon. But the team is encouraged by the pace of the BMW and hopeful for a positive performance in the race on Saturday (1:25 PM ET, LIVE on IMSA.com).“The car is good, it just keeps improving,” said LaMarra. “Especially here, at a track like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the car needs to be well-planted on the back end and it makes you a little more comfortable when you’re going over those blind left handers that you’re able to stay on throttle and pick it up early so that felt really good. I was really pleased with that. I had a really good flyer going up until Turn 9 but had a little blip in there. But the car is really good. A car ahead of me went wide like he missed pit lane or something so I had to check up a little because I wasn’t sure what he was doing. I’m disappointed that the car isn’t top-10 but we’ll save that for tomorrow!”LaMarra will start from the outside of Row 7 before turning the car over to Borcheller to finish out the race. The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park round goes green at 1:25 PM ET Saturday with LIVE coverage on IMSA.com.The race will be televised on FOX Sports 1 on Sunday, July 19 at 12:00 PM ET
