Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby GT350R-Cs 1-2 in Second Session

Multimatic Motorsports put its two new Ford Shelby GT350R-Cs 1-2 in Friday’s final Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice. Billy Johnson led the 45-minute practice with a lap of 1:27.638 in the No. 15 entry, while Jade Buford ran 1:27.917 in the No. 158.
BJ Zacharias’ lap of 1:57.548 (101.115 mph) from the morning session stood as the fastest lap of the day.
Christian Szymczak led Street Tuner (ST) for the second straight session, running 1:32.418 in the No. 34 Alara Racing Mazda MX-5. He had the fastest lap of the class in the morning practice, 1:32.286 (95.924 mph. Second fastest was Connor Bloum, with a lap of 1:32.789 in the No. 19 RS1 Porsche Cayman.
Both Johnson and Scymczak unofficially bettered the circuit’s existing one-year-old track records. Competitors will be looking to officially break the records in today’s qualifying, beginning at 5:20 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s Round 5 of the 2015 season takes the green flag at 1:25 p.m. ET, and will be streamed live on IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app.
