Ferrari North America Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Pre-Race Report
July 7, 2015 (Englewood Cliffs, N.J.) – This weekend’s IMSA United SportsCar Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada represents another opportunity for Risi Competizione to move farther up the GT-LeMans championship standings.
A string of consistent results, as well as podium finishes at Sebring and Long Beach, have put drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer, who drive the no. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia, into second position in the drivers’ championship. Although there remains distance for the team to make up in order to assume the championship lead, CTMP is a circuit where Risi Competizione has historically maximized the potential of their Ferraris.Among the successes that Ferrari has enjoyed at CTMP are three victories scored by the Risi Competizione team. The first two of those victories, in 2006 and 2007, saw Risi Competizione Ferraris finish in first and second place. The team’s third victory in a row came in 2008, which was followed by three more podium results in three consecutive years. A Ferrari 333SP, driven by Rob Morgan and Ron Fellows, took overall honors in 1997 while in 2013 a Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek took the GT class victory. The United SportsCar Championship race from Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will be shown on Sunday, July 12 at 12:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1, while qualifying will be streamed live on IMSA.com on Saturday, July 11 at 4:40 PM ET.
