MotoGP: Injured Bradl to miss Sachsenring

Stefan Bradl will miss his home MotoGP race at the Sachsenring in Germany this weekend due to the hand injury he sustained at Assen. Forward Racing will recall its 2013 MotoGP rider Claudio Corti in the German's place.

Bradl had surgery last Monday and initially hoped to be fit in time for the Sachsenring, but has decided to withdraw due to the level of pain he is still in.

"It's really a shame to be forced to miss my home grand prix, but doctors have advised me not to rush the recovery in order not to jeopardize the rest of the season," he said. "My hand is still sore and I will try to take full advantage of the four weeks' break before the race at Indianapolis.

"I will be at Sachsenring with the team to meet my commitments with the media, the sponsors and all my fans who have been really close to me during the week after I had surgery."

Corti raced for Forward with its previous CRT class MotoGP project in 2013, with a 12th place his best result, and also for its Moto2 team in '10. The 28-year-old raced in World Superbikes last year.
