How to Enjoy an IMSA Race at Lime Rock Park

For IMSA TUDOR fans in New England, the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park is a “must-do” event. Lime Rock is not only a very fast and challenging 1.5-mile circuit of constant racing action, it is one of the most fan friendly venues on the schedule. For example, there is no charge for kids 12 and under. Parking is free. Paddock access is free. Veterans and active military are admitted free. And if that’s not attractive enough, Lime Rock is nearly finished with a multi-million dollar re-construction project (“Road to 60”) that has resulted in all-new – and spectacular – spectator viewing, huge, gorgeous, fan-friendly paddocks, new walkways, and even a new-from-the-ground-up paddock restroom designed by racing legend Sam Posey. Both the Wi-Fi and PA systems have been dramatically upgraded, and handicap access throughout the park is vastly improved, too.

IMSA prototype and sports car racing has a long and enviable history here, helped in no small part by the fact that Lime Rock races are invariably close, down-to-the-wire affairs. IMSA race day at Lime Rock (Saturday, July 25) features two Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge races – one for Street Tuner (ST) and one for Grand Sport (GS) – just before the 2-hour, 40-minute TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix for the Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona classes.
