FE plans overnight Battersea track work

An attempt will be made to resurface a small section of the London ePrix circuit overnight to return it to its original configuration for the second Formula E race.

The dip between two bumps on the exit of Turn 1 will be filled in with asphalt, which if successful would allow for the removal of the TECPRO barriers that have been placed at the left-hander to change the racing line.

Formula E manager Frederic Espinos told AUTOSPORT: "We will try it and see if it works. If it doesn't, we will leave the extra barriers in place for tomorrow."

An arrangement of TECPRO barriers was placed in front of the troublesome section of track between first and second practice for Saturday's opening race in Battersea Park. Espinos said the addition of the barriers, which have reduced the width of the track, was the only solution for race one.

Because the narrowing of the track allows only one car to take the corner at a time, no-overtaking yellow flags have been permanently displayed. This means that the race will start behind the safety car.
