Formula E: Trulli replaces Liuzzi with Fontana

The Trulli Formula E team has brought in Alex Fontana to replace Vitantonio Liuzzi for the final two races of the season in London this weekend.

Ex-Formula 1 driver Liuzzi – who contested five rounds of the inaugural Formula E season for Jarno Trulli's team – is unavailable for the Battersea Park event due to a prior commitment in the GT Asia series. GP3 regular Fontana will therefore take over the second car alongside Trulli.

The Swiss driver is currently in his third full season in GP3, and has scored three podiums in the category. He also made his Formula Renault 3.5 debut in Monaco earlier this year.

"I am so excited to get this opportunity to drive for Trulli Formula E in the final rounds of the season, and to be able to race next to Jarno is nothing but a privilege," said the 22-year-old Fontana. "Now I have a lot to learn in the next 24 hours but I'm confident in the team and that I can produce a good result."

Fontana is the third Swiss addition to the Formula E grid for London, with Fabio Leimer and Simona de Silvestro joining the Virgin and Andretti teams, respectively.

There have been five driver changes announced in all, with Briton Oliver Turvey set to make his debut on home soil for China Racing and Sakon Yamamoto competing for Aguri.
