Farfus tops Spa test in Marc VDS BMW
BMW driver Augusto Farfus Jr. topped official testing ahead of next month's Spa 24 Hours for the Marc VDS team. The Brazilian ended up fastest after eight hours of testing aboard the #45 BMW Z4 GT3 with a 2m19.034s set in the morning session.
Fellow DTM driver Maxime Martin subsequently lapped within five hundredths of his team-mate in the afternoon.
The best of the Grasser Lamborghini Huracans shared by Fabio Babini, Andrew Palmer and Jeroen Mul was second in both sessions, ending up on a 2m19.143s set in the afternoon by Babini. The second Marc VDS entry, driven by Nicky Catsburg and Markus Palttala, ended up third at 2m19.358s.
Fourth fastest was the VonRyan McLaren 650S GT3 on 2m19.406s driven by Alvaro Parente and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs.
Farfus said: "There were a lot of red flags being waved this morning, which was obviously not ideal. Despite this, we still managed to gather valuable data and improve the car."
A total of 56 of the 66 cars entered for the race on July 25-26 took part in yesterday's test.
