NASCAR XFINITY: Jones completes special weekend

Erik Jones won the XFINITY Series Owens Corning AttiCat 300 at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday after Saturday's originally scheduled race was rained out.

Jones, who won Friday's Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway, led 94 out of 200 laps at Chicago. This is the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's second win XFINITY Series win this season, his first at Chicagoland.

Coming up short to Jones was Ryan Blaney in second place after leading for 43 laps.

Austin Dillon, Brendan Gaughan followed, finished third and fourth, respectively. 

Current XFINITY Series points leader Chris Buescher was in and out of the top five and battling for position with Roush Fenway Racing teammate Darrell Wallace Jr. toward the end of the race. Buescher finished fifth, while Wallace Jr. finished 10th after recovering from a spin on Lap 97.

Making his NASCAR national series debut, Ross Kenseth, son of Matt Kenseth, finished the race sixth. The 22-year-old started from second in the field and led for one lap.

Last year's race winner and series champion Chase Elliott started the race sixth, but finished 14th. 

There was some pit road confusion during on Lap 152 when drivers couldn't tell if pit road was open or not and resulted in a total of 22 drivers penalized at once for pitting too soon. 

The track record for lead changes (21) was broken during Sunday's race with a total of 23 lead changes.

The XFINITY Series returns to racing Saturday, July 4 for the Subway Firecracker 250 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Daytona International Speedway with TV coverage on NBCSN.
