LM24: Aston Martin unveils art car colors

Aston Martin Racing has unveiled the art car livery in which its lead Vantage GTE will race in this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours.

The livery, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the first of a line of BMW art cars to race at Le Mans, is the work of award-winning German abstract artist Tobias Rehberger.

Rehberger, who will be present for the race, said that the color scheme was "rooted in my interest in distorted perception and related phenomena like auto moving patterns, optical effects, camouflage and visual confusion."

Darren Turner, who will share the #97 GTE Pro class Aston with Stephane Mucke and Rob Bell, added: "I think art cars are fantastic – I love it."

The livery was unveiled when the Aston Martin squad went through scrutineering at Le Mans on Monday (pictured, Marshall Pruett photo)

The #95 Aston will run in the colors of Gulf Oil and the #99 car in those of solar energy company Hanergy. The two GTE Am cars also compete in Gulf blue and orange.
