Formula E: Buemi DQ'd from Moscow third place

Sebastien Buemi has lost his third-place finish in Formula E's Moscow ePrix after a post-race penalty for an unsafe release.

Buemi gained the position during an action-packed final lap with a pass on Jean-Eric Vergne, however stewards found he had earlier been unsafely released from his pit stop, into the path of Nick Heidfeld.

Moscow Formula E: Nelson Piquet Jr wins to extend points lead

The equivalent of a drive-through penalty, 29 seconds was added to his time by stewards, and he dropped to ninth in the results.

To compound matters, the pitstop had already had an adverse effect on Buemi's afternoon, with e.dams mistakenly working to a minimum time of 68 seconds rather than the mandatory 58 for both of its cars.

The decision elevates Heidfeld to his first Formula E podium, with Vergne fourth and Buemi now one spot behind teammate Nicolas Prost. However, Vergne has been stripped of his bonus points for setting the fastest lap after cutting the chicane.

Those two points go to Buemi, who loses a net of 12 points from the findings.

It means race winner Nelson Piquet Jr., wit 128 points, will head to London's final event with a 17-point buffer over Lucas di Grassi, with Buemi now third, a further six behind.
