Le Mans: 2016 "Garage 56" effort from quadruple amputee confirmed
Matt Fernandez reports that the ACO’s Vincent Beaumesnil was interviewed on RTL and confirmed that an entry for next year’s "Garage 56"has been confirmed for quadruple amputee Frederic Sausset (pictured left) who will race in a Morgan LMP2 chassis, potentially with an engine supplied by Audi.
Beaumesnil confirmed that Sausset “is currently training day and night in order to have a chance to be on the grid next year. Technology can also be at the service of disabled people.”
A formal announcement of the effort is due in race week with Frederic Sausset set to demonstrate a Ligier JS53 CN car (below) on the Le Mans circuit on June 11 in between the two practice sessions.
If the effort comes to fruition, it will be the third Garage 56 entry to appear at Le Mans after the original Nissan DeltaWing and ZEOD RC.
