F3: Stroll penalized for huge Monza crash

Ferrari protege Lance Stroll has been censured by race officials for the incident that caused his spectacular roll in the Formula 3 European Championship at Monza.

Stroll left championship leader Antonio Giovinazzi with nowhere to go as they entered the Curva Grande, and the resulting collision pitched the Canadian into a barrel roll.

The Prema Powerteam mechanics have repaired his car overnight, but Stroll has been ordered to start the final race of the weekend from the pitlane.

Officials took action against other drivers following a turbulent race, with two of them excluded.

Monza race two report: Two rolls, one red flag and lots of controversy

Matt Rao has been thrown out of the results for clashes with Michele Beretta and Alessio Lorandi, while Dorian Boccolacci has suffered a similar fate after colliding with Maximilian Gunther, and also tripping Sergio Sette Camara along the start-finish straight.

For the same incident, Sette Camara has been ordered to join Stroll in taking a pitlane start.

Race winner Felix Rosenqvist, meanwhile, has been issued a reprimand for his track-limits offenae, where he ran wide exiting the Parabolica on a restart.

The race results have also been changed, with officials backdating the order by one lap before the red flag. The top four remain the same, but the rest of the points-scoring positions have been reshuffled.

The race has also been declared as a half-points round, as 75 percent of the race distance had not been reached, although it would have been had the race finished under the safety car instead of being red-flagged.
