IMSA: Cameron wheels Whelen Corvette to P1 before the rain sets in

A rain-blighted 90min practice session at Belle Isle ended with Dane Cameron top of the pile with his fourth lap of the session, recording a 1min28.704sec around the 2.35-mile track.

The No. 31 Whelen Corvette DP’s fastest was some 2.6sec quicker than Jordan Taylor’s best in Wayne Taylor Racing's similar car, with Joao Barbosa and Michael Valiante in third and fourth. However, given the constantly shifting track conditions, the gaps between the cars were far from representative.

James Davison carried on the good work of co-driver Christina Nielsen from this morning, putting the TRG Aston Martin V12 Vantage top of the GTD class, 0.7 ahead of Mario Farnbacher in the No. 23 Porsche.

Renger Van der Zande was top of the PC class, racing at Belle Isle for the first time.

Qualifying is due to to run from 5:10-6:10pm ET, starting with the GTD class.
