MotoGP: Iannone dislocates shoulder in crash

Ducati rider Andrea Iannone sustained a dislocated shoulder in a testing crash at Mugello on Tuesday, but intends to race in this weekend's French Grand Prix.

Iannone crashed at Arrabiata 2 during the afternoon of the private test, which Ducati carried out in lieu of running at the official post-race test at Jerez last week. It was initially thought that the Italian had only suffered bruising, but further checks revealed dislocation.

Iannone only said he "banged my left shoulder pretty hard."

He is currently fifth in the championship after a strong start to his first season as a works Ducati rider, including his first podium in the opening round in Qatar.

Both Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso were pleased with the Ducati's performance in the test, as the latter set a time of 1m47.5s and Iannone a 1m47.8s. Last year's fastest race lap at the venue was a 1m47.892s by winner Marc Marquez's Honda.

"I am very happy with this test, because it helped us to understand the Desmosedici GP15 better," said Dovizioso. "In the first four GPs of this year, we have always tried to improve the bike, but it is very complicated to do this during the race weekend. Instead, having a day and a half to do so, in ideal weather conditions, gives you the possibility of knowing that you can work in the best possible way.

"The test confirmed to us that at Jerez we did not go in the right direction, and so we made a few modifications, found the right feeling again and we are fast here once again. For sure, we still have room to improve, but we've done a good job in any case and so we go to Le Mans feeling pretty confident."
