DTM decides not to change calendar
The DTM has decided against changing its 2015 calendar, electing not to move its Nurburgring race to the former German Grand Prix Formula 1 date in July.
Series officials explored changes to utilise the July 17-19 weekend, vacant after Hockenheim could not agree to terms with Formula One Management to host the race.
With the Nurburgring the proposed venue, bringing the circuit's existing Sept. 25-27 date forward was the likely outcome after moves to add a 10th event were met with manufacturer resistance. However, organizers have opted not to proceed, leaving the nine-round calendar as originally announced late last year.
"Basically, the date in July is perfect for a motor-racing event and discussing about a date shift or an additional event was the right approach," series boss Hans Werner Aufrecht said. "In the end, however, the additional costs as well as the major organisational and logistic challenges that would have been caused by the shift spoke against making this move.
"The discussion is history now, and we are looking forward to the DTM meeting held at the Nurburgring in September with a lot of pleasant anticipation."
