Rear view: When the Force was with Red Bull

Did you know today was Star Wars Day? OK, we didn’t either…but Infiniti Red Bull Racing apparently does, as it marked the day on which we’re apparently supposed to go around wishing others “May the 4th be with you!” to re-release these images of its Star Wars promotion at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2005, as a tie-in for the release of the final edition of the second Star Wars movie trilogy, “Revenge of the Sith.”

Cooked up between Star Wars creator George Lucas (in center LEFT, with RBR’s drivers of the time, David Coulthard and Vitantonio Liuzzi and Star Wars characters) and Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz, the promotion included a special screening of the film to an invitation-only crowd of F1 folk on Saturday night with some of the stars in attendance. Then on Sunday, the Red Bull cars and crew raced in Star Wars regalia before Monaco’s massive international audience.

Enjoy the memories. Or maybe come back tomorrow to share some “Revenge of the 5th!” Apparently that’s also a thing…

And, since this December marks the launch of the next addition to the Star Wars film saga, maybe another tie-in could be in the works…
