WEC: ESM shakes down new Ligier LMP2s

The

Tequila Patron ESM

squad gave its pair of Ligier coupes a shakedown today ahead of their race debuts in this weekend's round of the World Endurance Championship at Spa.

The team, which ordered the cars after abandoning the new-for-2015 HPD ARX-04b in early March, ran the HPD/Honda-powered JSP2s at Magny-Cours on Monday. All six of the team's drivers took to the wheel in a test held in cold and rainy conditions.

"The entire team is impressed with the build and finish on the Ligier," co-owner/driver Scott Sharp said. "All the drivers remarked how confidence-building, even in the wet, the car was – it's a very refined and balanced piece."

The two Ligiers replace the HPD ARX-03c open-top LMP2s to which the team reverted for the Sebring 12 Hours in March and then the opening round of the WEC at Silverstone earlier this month. It ran HPD's ARX-04b coupe in the Daytona 24 Hours in January before opting to order the Ligiers after further testing at Sebring.
