CJ Wilson Racing Making Move to GS Class


Subtitle:Miller, McQuarrie to Drive No. 33 Porsche 911

CJ Wilson Racing today announced a partnership with Twin-Star Home Furnishings and its brand new Fantasy Garage line of of workbench and storage products. The Austin-based team will make its debut in the GS class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competing in a Fantasy Garage sponsored Porsche 911.

The initial two-race program begins with the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway on Saturday, May 2, followed by the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock, Connecticut on July 25. Regular CJ Wilson Racing drivers Marc Miller and Tyler McQuarrie will drive the car in both events.

"We're really excited about the new challenges that we face as we step into the GS class and the incredible level of competition that it offers. The pairing of the Porsche 911 with our new partner,  Fantasy Garage, is an ideal one," said team owner C.J. Wilson.  

Wilson went on to explain how this will kickstart a new period of growth for the Austin based team. "This partnership is the first stage in an exciting new phase for CJWR. Discussions with a number of potential customers have led us to look at a wider number of competition options and we feel there are a several exciting areas for expansion."

The two-time MLB All-Star added, "CJ Wilson Racing aims to add a customer platform that will hone a driver's racecraft and speed in a competitive environment while also placing them on a trajectory towards some of the big GT events in the future. That is why we are evaluating several categories that could both serve a customer's needs, as well as further our goal to compete in the highest levels of sportscar racing."

Driver of the Fantasy Garage Porsche, Marc Miller, shares his team owner's enthusiasm for the new program. "After many successful seasons racing in ST, this transition to the GS class in the Fantasy Garage Porsche 911 is something I have looked forward to for a long time. I have missed racing in higher-horsepower classes, and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of developing this portion of our program into a race-winning effort."

To launch the partnership, Fantasy Garage will be outfitting the CJ Wilson Racing paddock area at Mazda Raceway with a full suite of its products. Fans at the the track will be encouraged to to post pictures of the car, drivers, grid girls, promotional products and workspace to social media using the hashtag #FantasyGarageSelfie and one winner will receive the entire set of Fantasy Garage equipment, as displayed in the paddock. A prize worth over $1,700.

The third round of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge takes place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, May 2nd at 4pm EST. You can watch the race live on
