JRM Mini to join RX from Hockenheim

JRM Racing's Mini project will make its first World Rallycross Championship appearance at round two, the joint event with the DTM at Hockenheim.

The team will enter two American drivers: multiple X Games gold medal winnner Dave Mirra, famed for his BMX antics and later rally and rallycross appearances with Subaru in America, will be joined by skateborder Danny Way. The pair tested the car at the Barcelona circuit on Monday. Mirra previously raced the Mini in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship for its previous owner, Prodrive.

"This is such a great car and it was great to get back in it," he said. "It's so well balanced, and has so much power.

"Watching the World Rallycross Championship, the level of driving looks stacked. I'm excited to be part of it. The GRC was good to me, but this is an opportunity that has been given to me and I have to take it. I'm very psyched."

Way has previous rallycross experience from competing in a round of the single-make British Rallycross Suzuki Swift Championship at Lydden Hill last year.

"The media day was like the biggest tease ever!" said Way. "The Mini is a very addictive to drive, I wish I'd had more time in it. I'm very excited about racing the car in Germany.

"I've been trying to get into it for quite some time. It's pretty awesome, thank God to these guys at JRM for picking up the Prodrive project and making our dreams reality."

Fellow GRC and World RX event winner Tanner Foust has also entered the Hockenheim event in a Marklund Motorsport Volkswagen Polo.
