WEC: Chandhok rejoins Murphy for Le Mans
Former grand prix driver Karun Chandhok will make his third consecutive appearance at the Le Mans 24 Hours with the Murphy Prototypes LMP2 squad this year.
Chandhok will drive the Anglo-Irish team's ORECA-Nissan 03R alongside Nathanael Berthon and Mark Patterson, who were among his teammates at Le Mans in 2014 and 2013, respectively. The Indian driver, who tested for the team at Paul Ricard early last month, is taking the seat alongside Berthon and Patterson filled by Michael Lyons in the ELMS.
Currently racing full-time in Formula E, Chandhok told AUTOSPORT: "I think I'm going to be part of a strong team with Nathanael and Mark. I believe the new coupes and older cars like ours will be evenly matched at Le Mans this year, so it's going to be all about reliability and making no mistakes."
Team boss Greg Murphy added that Chandhok was "a real team player and that is the main reason I keep pushing for him to join us."
Murphy pointed out that it was the first year in his team's four-season history that it would be competing in the 24 Hours without a Le Mans rookie as part of its lineup.
