IMSA: Porsche sets Long Beach lineups
The factory Porsche North America team has set its lineup for Round 3 at IMSA's TUDOR United SportsCar Championship event at Long Beach. Coming off of a highly competitive outing at the 12 Hours of Sebring where its cars qualified 1-2, the program will seek its first victory of 2015 with an aggressive combination of Frenchmen Patrick Pilet and Fred Makowiecki in the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR, and veteran talent in the No. 912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR with Germany's Jörg Bergmeister and Austria's Richard Lietz.
The Porsche North America team finds itself in an unfamiliar position where, after sweeping the Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring last year, it headed to Long Beach leading the GTLM championship. Good fortune has been elusive for the team in 2015 as the German brand sits fourth in the Manufacturer standings and seventh and ninth in the Teams championship with the Nos. 911 and 912, respectively.
The agile 911 RSRs should suit the Long Beach street circuit, and with an impressive level of downforce at its disposal, the trip to Southern California could present the team with a prime opportunity to turn its season around.
