Larsson to enter full World RX season

Reigning European Rallycross champion Robin Larsson will contest the full World Rallycross Championship this season, driving the privately entered Audi A1 Supercar he used in selected rounds in 2014.

The Swede graduated from the TouringCar support category to the Supercar division last year and immediately impressed, leading the final of his first event at Lydden Hill before eventually finishing second. He also finished on the podium in Germany, and later wrapped up the European title.

"Being in my own team is what keeps me motivated," Larsson, who will run under the Larsson Jernberg Racing Team banner, said. "I know it's going to be tough with 13 races but I've been working very hard to find new sponsors and now everything is looking good for Portugal.

"We don't have as much budget as some of the bigger teams but I hope we can show our speed in the first race. We're going to do some more testing before then and I can't wait to jump in the car again to try it out."

Former Supercar racer Michael Jernberg will continue to oversee the programme, along with Robin's father Lars, the 2006 and 2007 European champion. Sourced from renowned rallycross chassis builder Ingvan Gunnarsson Motorsport, the Audi will feature an upgraded engine package from Swedish tuners Trollspeed in 2015.

"The car has been rebuilt over the winter and we have a new engine from Trollspeed," said Larsson.  "When you only can use three engines without incurring a penalty, it becomes increasingly important to have an engine you can rely on."
