Formula E: Liuzzi replaces Cerruti at Trulli
Former Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi is to make his Formula E debut in Miami this weekend after agreeing a deal to join the Trulli team. The Italian will replace Michela Cerruti, who has decided to step away from the category.
Liuzzi only sorted the deal to race while on vacation in the United States, which means he faces a race against time to get everything in place for the event.
"I'm very happy about this nice opportunity to race with Jarno," said Liuzzi, who started 80 grands prix between 2005 and 2011. "I was here on holiday when I got a call from Jarno asking if I wanted to race for the team. Of course I said yes. It's a privilege to be racing with such a longtime friend and it will be very nice to be in the same team.
"The first big task will be to find a race suit. Don't be surprised if you see me in one of Jarno's helmets."
Trulli team boss Lucio Cavuto added: "The whole team and I are very sad that Michela won't be racing with us any longer. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her great contribution to the team and wish her the very best of luck for the future."
Cerruti failed to score any points in her four outings for the Trulli team.
