Indy Lights: Chilton, Carlin continue developing 2015 plans
appointment as a member of the Nissan P1 sports car program
will take precedence over the young Englishman's activities in 2015, but with a widespread eight-race calendar, those World Endurance Championship commitments won't necessarily limit his chances to drive for Carlin Racing this season."He hasn't confirmed a program yet, so everything else is still fluid," team owner Trevor Carlin told RACER. "He's on his way to Barber to test tomorrow in Indy Lights, so it's still an active topic. We haven't made a firm decision on what he's doing with us, and now that he has his sports car deal finalized, there's a possibility he can do both championships. There's only one date clash, so he's got to make that decision on whether he wants to both sometime soon."
has also been fast in one of the team's two Dallara IL15-Mazdas
, and could complement his Nissan activities with Indy Lights outings and a possible move to IndyCar later in the year. For now, Carlin says the team will focus on their upcoming test and look to sort their final roster afterward.
"We had a great test at NOLA with Max, had another fantastic test last week in a private test at Homestead, and we're just looking forward to going racing," he added. "We've enjoyed going to new places, new tracks, and it's quite satisfying putting a new team together, new guys, new equipment, and to get out and see it go well. We're just waiting to go racing at St. Pete now, to be honest.
"And Ed's adapted to it very well. He pulled a muscle in his neck at NOLA, so he struggled a bit there, but he was quick at Homestead and I expect him and Max to trade being fastest. We want to see them both on top of the time sheets wherever we go."
