Brooklands to get facelift with lottery funds
The Brooklands Museum, located on the grounds of the historic British race circuit, has secured a £4.7 million ($7.2m) investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which sets aside proceeds from the UK national lottery for the preservation of historic sites. According to ClassicandSportsCar.com, the grant will enable the museum to begin its "Brooklands Aircraft Factory & Race Track Revival Project."
As well as the restoration of the finishing straight of the race circuit, the money will also help to transform the Wellington Hangar into "The Aircraft Factory," containing an exhibition on aircraft manufacture, and to build a new annex.
Museum director Allan Winn said: "This support for Lottery players is a real vindication of the museum's vision of bringing a wartime temporary aircraft assembly building back to life."
