Audi's Bonanomi joins Blancpain field

Audi World Endurance Championship driver Marco Bonanomi will also contest the Blancpain GT Series at the wheel of one of the German manufacturer's cars this season.

The Italian, who is again part of the driving squad in the third Audi LMP1 entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Spa WEC round, will race an Audi R8 LMS ultra for the Czech ISR Racing squad.

Bonanomi will be paired with Filip Salaquarda, a race winner in the defunct FIA GT1 World Championship and son of team boss Igor, in the seven Blancpain Sprint Series rounds and will share with the Czech and a third driver in the five Blancpain Endurance Series events.

The deal marks a return to the GT ranks for Bonanomi, who has raced the R8 only sporadically since contesting five of the six BES rounds with the Belgian WRT team in 2012.

Prague-based ISR has already announced that Danes Anders and Thomas Fjordbach will share the sister car in both Blancpain series. ISR, which raced in the FIA GT Championship in 2001, is switching full-time to sports cars this season after withdrawing from Formula Renault 3.5.

It made an exploratory outing in the BES last season at the Spa 24 Hours and also contested the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in December with an Audi.
