Krohn Racing Rolex 24 Post-Qualifying Notes and Quotes

Daytona Beach, Fla., January 22, 2015...Krohn Racing will start on the outside, row three in the 53rd Annual Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.
 
After leading laps in the second practice session of the day, Olivier Pla, qualified the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd with a best lap time of 1:39.683, less than half a second off Saturday's pole winning time of 1:39.194 for the first round in the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.
 
Co-piloting with Pla in the Ligier JS P2 for Saturday's race will be Krohn Racing Team Owner/Driver Tracy W. Krohn, Nic Jonsson, and Alex Brundle.
 
Practice session four begins Friday, January 23, at 11:25 a.m. (all classes). The green flag will be Saturday, January 24 at 2:10 p.m. EDT. Live timing and scoring is available for all on-track sessions at IMSA.com and the IMSA Smartphone app.

OLIVIER PLA, Krohn Racing, Qualifying Driver:
"It was not a bad qualifying for us, to be honest, considering the lack of power and straight line speed we have at the moment here in Daytona, which is a bit unfortunate, but we will have to deal with that. The car was good and we made a good improvement between the Roar and the week of the 24. Actually I am really happy it's going the right way.We know that we will have a deficit to compete with the DP and the other P2, but I see us doing our ownrace, but we must stay away from trouble and be clever. Here (at Daytona) the most important thing is the last four hours, to make sure we are on the leading lap and be very focused and get some results."

BURVILL, Krohn Racing, Engineer:
"Qualifying was really a great demonstration of how well the BoP (balance of performance) process has been managed to bring the cars together. It's a very small spread of a half-a-second from first to sixth. It is really good because it shows the cars are really close. Then again, we have all sorts of different types of cars and power trains, including even the DeltaWing mixed in there. From our point of view the speed we got in qualifying is pretty much what we predicted and we haven't been as fast as we had hoped for on a few of the sessions, but we brought it all together for qualifying. You have to be very satisfied to start on the third row and we have been focusing on the race. So getting a qualifying speed wasn't ever a priority, but it's nice to get the car to the full potential that we thought we had before we arrived here for the event."
