CJ Wilson Racing Renews Partnership With API
CJ Wilson Racing's #3 ST Class Mazda MX-5 will return to Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Competition at Daytona International Speedway this month with a striking look and the message that 'MOM knows best'.
The Austin-based team is, once again, partnering with the American Petroleum Institute (API) to promote it's 'Motor Oil Matters' campaign. Motor Oil Matters (MOM) is API's program for licensing motor oil distributors and oil change locations. MOM ensures consumers receive high-quality oil by recognizing oil-change locations that maintain a secure chain-of-custody for motor oil from the marketer all the way to the vehicle. The car will run in the same distinctive livery that made its first appearance at Virginia International Raceway last August. It will also feature the same driver pairing of Marc Miller and Tyler McQuarrie. The high banking and full-throttle nature of the twelve-turn 3.56 mile Sports Car Course at the historic Florida venue will provide a stern test for the Mazda MX-5 platform. While CJWR's cars will not be able to compete on pure speed, they will be as quick as anything in the class through the infield and the drivers of the #3 car will be doing everything they can to bring a Top 10 finish home for 'MOM'."While Daytona isn't the strongest track for our MX-5 platform, Tyler and I are going to put every effort into turning lemons into lemonade and come away with a solid finish to build on just like we did last season," Marc Miller explained. The Holland, Michigan native went on to outline how important API's MOM program really is. "The Motor Oil Matters campaign gives us an opportunity to educate consumers on the importance of making sure their oil-change locations are putting quality motor oils in their cars. We rely on our cars. Unless you change your own oil, you have to trust in others, and that is where MOM comes in, to help verify that your service centers are doing the right thing with the right motor oil."Team owner CJ Wilson is excited to be able to attend the opening event of the season. "Daytona really is the start of everything great in the sports car calendar. This year we have some new and exciting partnerships on the business front and through the race team's development our dealer group has grown in tandem. Being in the automotive business on both the sales and racing side has really been a great education these last few years.""One of our key messaging efforts this year is via the API and the 'Motor Oil Matters' campaign. By tying our race team and our dealerships together we are pushing for higher standards and more transparency from retailers. We're holding ourselves to a higher standard, and just like a good restaurant it is important that the customer knows what is going on inside. Kevin Ferrick, the Engine Oil Licensing and Certifications Manager at API is happy to once again partner with CJWR to spread the MOM message. "API is pleased to work with CJ Wilson Racing to spread the Motor Oil Matters message. For the past sixty years, the American Petroleum Institute has been committed to motor oil quality for because it really does matter."
