Ford owned Friday at Daytona International Speedway, and its archrival Chevrolet took over the top spot on the timesheets Saturday morning, but American manufacturer battles were of little interest at the end of the 1hr45min session.
The session ended under a red flag caused by the No. 50 Riley-BMW piloted by Bryon DeFoor, who got airborne entering Turn 1.
A photographer near the crash reported seeing the Daytona Prototype's right rear sit down on the track, followed by a light brush with the wall – at the highest speed portion of the circuit – and a slow rollover that left DeFoor upside down in the car. He was removed and taken to the infield care center where he was treated and released. More details on his condition will follow as they become available.
Jordan Taylor posted the fastest lap so far during the Roar Before the 24 test in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP at 1:39.181. Michael Shank Racing's Ligier JS P2-Honda was second (1:39.342) and the no. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP (1:39.417 ) was third.
The PC class was led by the No. 54 CORE autosport (1:41.769) entry, the No. 98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 led GTLM (1:44.476) and the No. 81 GB Autosport Porsche 911 GT America (1:47.524) topped GTD.
