Jim Click Mustang Paces Opening Session In Daytona


Subtitle:Next Level European Porsche Leads ST Class

Mike McGovern put Jim Click Racing atop the scoring chart in Friday morning’s opening Roar Before the Rolex 24 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice at Daytona International Speedway, while Greg Liefooghe led Street Tuner (ST) in the debut of Next Level European.

McGovern ran a lap of 1:56.185 in the No. 2 Jim Click Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302R to lead the Grand Sport (GS) competitors in the one-hour session. He was followed by two-time 2014 race winner Kris Wilson, who ran 1:56.829 in the No. 07 TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage, and Bob Michaelian, who ran 1:57.301 in the No. 07 Racers Edge Motorsports/Gary Yeomans Ford Mustang Boss 302R.

Austin Cindric, one of the drivers in the No. 158 Multimatic Motorsports/Miller Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302R, was fourth with a lap of 1:57.534.

Next Level European is debuting as a satellite team for BimmerWorld Racing. Returning BimmerWorld driver Greg Liefooghe led the ST competitors with a lap of 2:05.700 in the No. 83 Porsche Cayman. Tyler Cooke was second, running 2:05.773 in the No.  81 BimmerWorld BMW 328i. The combined effort will field two BMWs and two Caymans under the respective BimmerWorld and Next Level European designations.

Third in ST was defending Daytona winner and 2014 champion Eric Foss, running 2:05.883 in the No. 56 Murillo Racing/Mosing Motorcars Porsche Cayman he is sharing with Justin Piscitell and Jeff Mosing.

James Vance – announced Friday morning as the new driver of the No. 87 Rebel Rock Racing Porsche Cayman along with Dr. Ramin Abdolvahabi – was fourth in ST, running 2:06.578.
