MotoGP: Successful surgery for rookie Miller
MotoGP rookie Jack Miller has undergone surgery on his right shoulder ahead of his first season with LCR Honda. The operation was the third in total carried out as a result of a collarbone injury sustained in the 2013 Indianapolis Moto3 race.
A plate was initially inserted in the immediate wake of the accident, then changed last winter. The four remaining screws were removed in an operation led by regular MotoGP surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir at Barcelona's Dexeus University Hospital on Tuesday.
"I am really happy for finally having this operation to take out the titanium in my shoulder which is no longer needed," said Miller. "The operation was a success and it was not long till I felt very comfortable. I hope to have a quick recovery and focus all my attention to working for the 2015 season."
The 19-year-old Australian is leaping straight to MotoGP with LCR next year after finishing second to Alex Marquez in Moto3 this season. He recently completed his second MotoGP test at Sepang.
Both of LCR's 2015 riders have had shoulder operations in recent weeks, with Cal Crutchlow getting arthritis attended to and a metal plate from a 2011 injury removed two weeks ago.
