Euro F3 test plan for Fittipaldi Jr.

Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, is among a group of drivers trying out for the Formula 3 European Championship in a Silverstone test. The 18-year-old Brazilian, winner of this year's Formula Renault BARC title, is testing a Fortec Motorsport Dallara-Mercedes on Tuesday, and will do four further days this month with the team in Spain.

Fittipaldi has had one previous F3 test, with Prema Powerteam at Fiorano.

He is joined in Fortec's test lineup by Indian Arjun Maini, runner-up in this year's BRDC Formula 4 Championship. Maini stays on for more running on Wednesday, when he is partnered by Fortec's Formula Renault ALPS runner-up Charles Leclerc. Leclerc (pictured) is one of six drivers testing on Tuesday with Carlin's flotilla of Dallara-Volkswagens.

The Monegasque is joined at Carlin by BRDC F4 champion George Russell, Americans Gustavo Menezes (who raced with Van Amersfoort Racing in F3 this year) and Ryan Tveter (who competed in Formula Renault NEC), British karter Callum Ilott and Canadian karter Zach Claman DeMelo.

Ilott is continuing his testing program with Carlin, which has already taken him to Pembrey and Spa.

Another karter, Italian Alessio Lorandi, is getting his second run-out with a Van Amersfoort Racing Dallara-VW.

Lorandi, highly rated by VAR's 2014 star Max Verstappen, is testing alongside Jules Szymkowiak, who hopes to remain at the team for a second season.

T-Sport is giving the first run to the brand-new Tomei-built ThreeBond engine with Alexander Sims in the driving seat on Tuesday, before Japanese FRenault racer Ukyo Sasahara takes over on Wednesday. The team is also running Australian F3 Championship racer Ricky Capo in an NBE-engined car.

Double R Racing is testing British Formula Ford racer Ricky Collard in a Dallara powered by an older-spec Mercedes engine, with Pole Alex Bosak – who raced in Formula Renault ALPS this year – in a new-spec machine.

Team West-Tec is running Ecuadorean Julio Moreno, who has raced in Formula Renault NEC for the past two seasons, in a Euroformula Open car. Moreno is eyeing Euroformula or FIA Euro F3.
